I keep this simple: I only collect what I need to reply to you, run my business and make this site better. Here’s exactly what that means.

This website is run by Michelle Prather, doing business as Michelle Prather Design, a web design and digital marketing studio based in Long Beach, California. When this policy says “I,” “me” or “my,” it means me. You can reach me anytime at michelleprather@gmail.com.
Information you give me. When you fill out my contact form, I collect your name, email address, business name (if you add it), what you’re looking for and your message. If you sign up for my newsletter, I collect your email address.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this site collects basic usage data through cookies and similar tools, such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the site that sent you here, your general location (city or region, not your exact address), and your device and browser type.
I don’t collect payment information on this website, and I never ask for sensitive information like Social Security numbers through my forms.
I don’t sell your personal information, and I don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.
I use Google Analytics to see how visitors find and use my site. It uses cookies to collect the usage data described above, and the reports I see don’t identify you personally. When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice anytime. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
Some cookies are needed for the site to work, like the ones that remember your cookie choice. Those can’t be turned off through the banner.
I use a few trusted services to run this site and my business. They only get the information they need to do their job:
Each service has its own privacy policy that explains how they handle data.
I keep messages and project information as long as I need them to work with you, and for business records afterward. Newsletter subscribers stay on my list until they unsubscribe. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
You can ask me to show you, correct or delete the personal information I have about you, or to stop sending you emails. Just email michelleprather@gmail.com and I’ll take care of it. If you live in California, you have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and I won’t treat you differently for using them. Every newsletter email also has an unsubscribe link.
Do Not Track: some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There’s no common standard for it yet, so this site doesn’t respond to it, but you can always decline cookies through the banner or your browser.
This site uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and I only work with services that take security seriously. No website is 100% secure, but I do my best to protect your information.
This site is meant for business owners and isn’t directed to children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect information from children.
My portfolio links to client websites and other sites I don’t control. Their privacy practices are their own, so check their policies when you visit.
If I update this policy, I’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of the page.
